FUSARIUM SPECIES FROM AN INDONESIAN GENOTYPE OF FOXTAIL MILLET SEEDS

<p class="abstrakinggris"><span lang="EN-US">As a generalist pathogen in cereals, <em>Fusarium </em>spp. become the most threatening fungi which can conduct its saprogenesis by infecting seeds. Determination of fungal identity and yield loss risk is needed to modify effective controlling strategies. However, there no report on implementing methods for foxtail millet (<em>Setaria italica </em>L. Beauv.). This research was undertaken from July September 2020 November December 2021 under ambient laboratory conditions identify evaluate pathogenicity seed-borne </em>species millet. One hundred colonies were isolated genotype ICERI-6 dominated Morphological characterization observing structure microscopical features indicated that six isolates (Fu1–Fu6) identical solani, F. chlamydosporum, oxysporum, equiseti, proliferatum, </em>and <em>F. graminearum</em>, respectively.<em> </em>Molecular identification 5.8s rDNA target gene with ITS1 ITS4 primers has confirmed <em>Fusarium</em> spp. determined as mentioned species. Pathogenicity test using potato dextrose agar medium showed germination percentage seed inoculated only 1.2% average at 7 days after incubation. These species led failure seeds covered mycelia. Seeds could escape performed necrotic spots seedlings. abnormalities would contribute low productivity field. The study implication disease resistant variety breeding becomes important issues be addressed future research.</span></p>
